This tweet about a dad showing off his son’s boyfriend at work has gone viral
Some fathers would hide their son’s boyfriend from other people – especially at work.
Not this dad.
When customers at his restaurant asked Louis Sr – who didn’t want their last name used – to talk about his son, Lous Jr, he did so, enthusiastically.
I have a billion pictures I’m trying to show everyone but I truly had such a great weekend with you. You have me on a cloud & I’m soooo excited to see where it takes me. pic.twitter.com/drlX9aKTyU

He also mentioned Christian, his son’s boyfriend – and then texted his son for a photo of his partner to show the customers.
Except he didn’t use those exact words.
“Send me the pic of u and ur boy toy,” he told his son.
Louis Jr, 18, was so touched by this gesture that he posted a screenshot of the texts, adding: “So my dad shows off my boyfriend and I at work :’)”.
In another tweet, he continued: “Imma take this time to appreciate the parents i have.
“I’m beyond blessed to have been born into this life. To have parents who love my brother and I for us. Wouldn’t give it up for the world.❤️”
And speaking to BuzzFeed News, he said: “I just love that my dad was showing off me and Christian.”
People were thrilled with the post, which has attracted more than 60,000 retweets and likes.
One said: “Y’all are so adorable who wouldn’t show you off??? ”
“This is all I want,” wrote another.
A fan pointed out: “What’s even cuter is that he doesn’t say send me a picture of you & your boyfriend. He calls him your boy toy “.
“I love this such a cute couple now this how all parents are supposed to be supporting their children ❤️,” one person said.
Another wrote: “a legendary dad!”
They’re both totally right, to be fair.
One commenter said: “i’m so f**king happy for u & i really hope you realize how fortunate you are to have such an amazing dad because not all of us are blessed with understanding and supportive parents.
“wow im so f**king shooketh. tell ur dad i luv him plz”.
And another wrote: “We love suportive fathers “.
Same.
Louis Jr said he was enjoying seeing his father getting the praise he deserved.
“I really love the comments toward my dad,” he said.
“Everyone was telling how much they love my dad — that he was the father of the year.”
One person told him: “Oh, I’m straight and my dad doesn’t even do this with me,” he said.
He explained: “It’s not even us being gay. It’s just my dad accepting who I’m in love with.”
Louis Sr said: “It makes me feel good that people are out there giving me props.”
Unfortunately – and somewhat predictably – some Twitter users have been less kind, with some suggesting that Louis Sr should be fired or that his actions were “foul”.
“It makes me beyond angry,” the dad said.
“Somebody is saying what about my son?”
But Louis Jr was ready to turn a blind eye to the comments.
“They try to give themselves power through us, and if I let that happen, it gives them power,” he said.
“If I stay quiet it gives them no attention, and no attention is brought to them.”
Louis Sr said that he had supported his son with love and acceptance “always. Ever since day one.
“Ever since he came out to us.”
He encouraged other parents to do the same, saying simply: “We brought them in this world, you know.”
