Stop everything, gay KitKats have arrived
The British KitKat is sexing up its image.
While the innovative flavour-givers in Japan have introduced wasabi, grilled potato and French salt KitKats to their collections, us dull Brits have been left grappling with the milk chocolate format.
But now one addition from the nation will be making its way into the UK market – and it’s a queer dream.
Brits will be able to purchase one delightfully queer KitKat – with pink chocolate.
The ruby edition of the biscuit bar will be hitting markets to make use of one lesser known form of cocoa.
Ruby chocolate, aka ‘couverture chocolate,’ is made from a special kind of cocoa bean.
And it’s not just the colour of the chocolate that strikes a different note.
The chocolate has an intense berry taste too due to the way that is roasted.
The Ruby chocolate was created by Swiss chocolatier Barry Callebaut which spent more than a decade developing the ingredient, reports just-food.com.
“Ruby chocolate is a big innovation in confectionery and we are very proud that KitKat is the first major brand in the UK to feature this exciting new chocolate,” Alex Gonnella, Marketing Director for Nestlé UK told the Evening Standard.
“We know that a new type of KitKat is a really big deal and we are very excited to be able to offer a different type of chocolate for KitKat fans to try,” Gonnella added to just-food.com.
“I am very pleased to see the result of our partnership with Nestlé — the iconic four-finger KitKat made with our Ruby chocolate. Consumers across the world will be intrigued by the unique taste of this crispy delight!” said Pablo Perversi, chief innovation, quality and sustainability officer at Barry Callebaut.
The KitKat was launched 83 years ago as the perfect chocolate biscuit to have with a cup of tea.
Nestlé has launched more than 350 different variants of KitKat over its existence.
The four-finger Ruby KitKat will come to UK markets on Monday.
Either way, we’ve still got our fingers crossed for the potato version.
