Who has Ricky Martin dated? From a rumoured fling with Madonna to being a gay father of two

Gay icon, pop singer and actor Ricky Martin came out as gay in 2010, and married his partner Jwan Yosef earlier this year.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story star – who admitted he was ‘terrified’ to ask Yosef to marry him – leaves behind a trail of former relationships, flings and alleged hook-ups in his wake, both male and female.
His husband is a Syrian-born Swedish painter and artist, but Martin has been linked to actors, TV presenters, sports stars and even (reportedly) Madonna.
Now all settled down, the Puerto Rican singer has twin sons born to a surrogate mother, who he raises with his husband, after coming out as gay in an emotional letter to fans eight years ago, despite earlier denials and speculation about his sexuality.

The couple’s wedding was kept a secret from Martin’s fans and the public – it was only revealed after the wedding had already happened, when a reporter asked him about it on the red carpet.
The star has been very public about his sexuality since coming out, though, celebrating his love of men in music videos, replacing female dancers with male ones, and talking about his husband on talk shows like Ellen DeGeneres.
So, who has Ricky Martin dated?
Well, first off – lots of women.
For over 14 years, he was in an on-and-off relationship with Mexican TV host Rebecca de Alba. He recently alluded to her in an interview, saying that a long-term girlfriend had known about his sexuality while they were together.
“She was amazing, and she was powerful and she knew about me. She knew I was gay, but we were together,” he said.

“It was one of those things, but we broke up around ’97, ’98, and then I just worked.”
He and Adriana Biega – an actress (best known for 2000’s ‘Me, Myself and Irene’) – were an item from 1998 – 1999, and he reportedly dated Latvian model/actress Ines Misan from 2000 – 2002.
Martin has also been linked to stylist Maital Saban, and had a ‘General Hospital’ star Lilly Melgar and ‘Shallow Hal’ actress Adriana Biega.
Since coming out to the public, he has dated plenty of men, too.
In 2008 Martin was thought to have a fling with Nathan Lane – an American actor and writer, known for his roles in ‘The Birdcage’, the musical ‘The Producers’, ‘MouseHunt’, and ’Guys and Dolls’.
He and Carlos Gonzalez dated from 2008 – 2013. The Venezuelan professional baseball right fielder plays for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball, and has also played for other Major League side, the Oakland Athletics.

In April 2016, Ricky Martin started dating painter Jwan Yosef. And, even though they are now married, it might not mean the end of dating other people.
Ricky has said he wants people to accept open relationships as normal and healthy, in light of him playing Gianni Versace’s partner – Antonio D’Amico – on screen.
Versace and D’Amico were together for 15 years, in an open relationship that allowed them to have sex with other people without it damaging them as a couple.
“I want to normalise relationships like this,” he has said.

“It’s good for the world, it’s good for me as a gay man with kids.
“It’s important that we shed some light on power couples like this, even though he was quiet and behind the scenes and he was just there supporting his man for 15 years. I also believe there was a level of homophobia going around in his family where he was hiding.”
Ricky said he enjoyed how the television series showed how an open relationship could bring joy to both people.
He and his husband haven’t spoken publicly about whether they are monogamous or polyamorous.
