Drag Race star Tyra Sanchez banned from DragCon as fans report her to the FBI

The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 has been banned from DragCon over alleged threats against the event.
Tyra Sanchez triggered security fears after she wrote on Facebook warning people not to attend the event.
“Fair warning: DO NOT attend RuPaul’s DragCon on May 12, 2018. Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” she wrote in a post that has been shared more than 800 times.
Many users interpreted the remarks, which have since been posted a second time, as a threat.

Panicked users have begun reporting Sanchez to the FBI for fear that there could be a terrorist threat to the event, due to take place in Los Angeles on May 12.
One user linked to the FBI tips page and wrote: “Report this threat. Too many people say ‘someone else will report it,’ ‘someone else has already done it,’ ‘I would just be wasting their time.’
“This is how disasters strike, this is how people die, this is how civil liberties are ripped away from everyone.”
Another person commented saying they knew of several reports against Sanchez filed with the FBI.

The FBI reports come after Sanchez was formally banned from the event for making violent threats to other queens.
In September 2017, Sanchez posted a video of in which some claimed she was threatening violence against fellow queens Phi Phi O’Hara and Tatiana.
In the video she declares: “When you see Ms. Phi Phi and Ms. Mother f***ing Tati’s ass stretched out on the motherf***ing ground, you will know it was me. Yeah, I may not have physically did it, but it will be my doing. Remember that shit, bitch.”
A concerned Phi Phi responded to request DragCon call out the behaviour: “There should be no booth for anyone who threatens hate/violence!”

DragCon bosses were forced to intervene in the situation as complaints mounted.
“As it currently stands, we cannot allow you to come to DragCon (in any form). We need to see you make a sincere public apology,” DragCon said.
“This apology has to make it clear that you do not condone violence against another person (including other queens) and that you will in no way encourage others to act violently (or otherwise inappropriately).”
Despite the video, Sanchez insisted she does not advocate violence.

Responding to the criticism she said: “Multiple times I stated that violence is not the answer and that queens of my upbringing sometimes express ourselves differently than most.
“I understand you may not understand this as you have only appropriated our lives, our attitudes and our mannerisms.”
