Trans woman shot in the face in broad daylight
A transgender woman has resorted to using a pen and paper to communicate after she was shot in the face in her own home on Wednesday afternoon.
The woman, who resides in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was shot several times in the arm and once in the jaw by a male perpetrator, who is said to have carried out the attack in broad daylight.
A witness saw the victim “stumble out of the house and stagger across the street trailing blood,” reported News12CT.
“She was shot at least once in the face, and it looks like several times in the arm. She was shot in the jaw,” a police officer told the news channel.

A friend of the victim said that the woman, who has lived in the town for 21 years, is a bastion of the community, and “doesn’t have a problem with anyone.”
“She’s like my sister, I can’t believe this happened. I don’t know what to say,” a friend of the victim, Alexandra Molina, told News12CT.
“She’ll help anyone. She’ll help anyone that needs help.
“A lot of people know her here in Bridgeport. She doesn’t have a problem with anyone,” she added.
Police believe that the victim probably knew the gunman who allegedly carried out the attack in her first-floor apartment in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

They are currently uncertain as to whether the incident was a hate crime.
“Any communication we have with her right now is just writing on a pad for us,” an investigator told News12CT.
In 2017, advocates tracked at least 28 deaths of transgender people in the United States due to fatal violence, the most ever recorded, reports the Human Rights Campaign.
The campaigners say that eight transgender people have been fatally shot or killed by other means in 2018 to date.
