Michelle Wolf burned Mike Pence at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Comedian Michelle Wolf has roasted Vice President Mike Pence at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Wolf, 32, attacked Pence at the dinner last night for his anti-gay and anti-abortion stances.
She also brilliantly targeted President Donald Trump – who boycotted the event for the second year running – and Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The Netflix comedian told the audience: “A lot of people want to Trump to be impeached. I do not, because just when you think Trump is awful, you remember Mike Pence.”
Pence has been repeatedly criticised for his attempts to take rights away from LGBT people and women, with the Human Rights Campaign calling his hateful agenda “extreme and nefarious” earlier this month.
Wolf continued with a series of excellent barbs, saying: “Mike Pence is what happens when Anderson Cooper isn’t gay.
“Mike Pence is the kind of guy that brushes his teeth and then drinks orange juice and thinks: ‘Mmm.’
“Mike Pence is also very anti-choice. He thinks abortion is murder, which, first of all – don’t knock it till you try it.”
She added: “Mike Pence is a weirdo, though. He’s a weird little guy. He won’t meet with other women without his wife present.
“When people first heard this, they were like: ‘That’s crazy.’
“But now in this current climate, they’re like: ‘That’s… a good witness.”
Wolf, who used to be a writer on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, then turned her attention to Huckabee Sanders, who has been the administration’s Press Secretary since July 2017.
“I actually really like Sarah,” she said. “I think she’s very resourceful. Like, she burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye.
“Like, maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies.
“It’s probably lies.”
She also accused her of being “Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women.
“Oh, I know, Aunt Coulter.”
Among many other hateful comments, far-right commentator Ann Coulter said in January that people with AIDS shouldn’t be allowed into the US.
Wolf threw insults at Trump throughout the 20-minute set, naturally, referencing the Stormy Daniels controversy and accusing him of misrepresenting his wealth.
She started by telling the crowd: “Like a porn star says when she’s about to have sex with a Trump, let’s get this over with.”
Wolf added: “It’s 2018 and I am a woman, so you cannot shut me up. Unless you have Michael Cohen wire me $130,000.”
Turning to the subject of Trump once again avoiding the dinner, she said: “I would drag him here myself, but it turns out that the President of the United States is the one pussy you’re not allowed to grab.”
To those objecting in the crowd, she remarked: “He said it first. Yeah, he did. You remember? Good.”
Wolf also told the audience: “Mr President, I don’t think you’re very rich,” she said. “Like, you might be rich in Idaho, but in New York, you’re doing fine.”
She added: “Trump is the only person that watches Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and thinks: ‘Me’.
“Although I’m not sure you wouldn’t get very far. He’d get to like the third question and be like: ‘I have to phone a Fox and Friend.'”
Wolf also imitated talk-show panellists “who remind you why you don’t go home for Thanksgiving,” quipping satirically to the assembled reporters and politicians: “Nuts come from milk now, all ’cause of the gays.”
