Troye Sivan’s new song ‘Bloom’ is about gay sex
Troye Sivan has a new song and it’s all about being on the receiving end of gay sex.
The Australian-South African singer introduced his new song āBloomā and its lyric video on Wednesday and confirmed fan theories that the song is about bottoming.
Shortly after the video trended at number one on Twitter, Sivan came up with the hashtag #BopsBoutBottoming.
While the singer has now deleted the tweet, fans managed to take screenshots and made the hashtag their own, sending both the song and #BopsBoutBottoming trending on the platform.

The lyrics to “Bloom” include the line: āTake a trip into my garden, I’ve got so much to show ya.ā
The songās pre-chorus continues: āI need you to tell me right before it goes down / Hold my hand if I get scared now /Ā Take a second, baby, slow it down.ā
The pop star came out in two YouTube videos back in 2013, telling his fans āI want you guys to know.ā
āThis is not something I’m ashamed of, and this is not something anyone should have to be ashamed of,ā he added.
āI know this could change everything for me, but it shouldnāt have to, and this is why Iām making this video.ā

Sivan has been a very public advocate for LGBT rights, winning a GLAAD award for outstanding music artist in 2016. In 2017, he received another GLAAD distinction, the Stephen F. Kolzak Award in 2017, which honours members of the media or entertainment industryās efforts to fight homophobia.
āThis award is so much larger than me,ā he said in his acceptance speech.
āThis moment is about visibility and about representation […] So much of the work that has contributed to our progress as a community is far less glamorous than the work that Iām being honoured for tonight.”
Sivan went on to honour the work of other LGBT activists like Peter Staley, Bayard Rustin and Gilbert Baker.
The singer has recently discussed how he cried upon realising he was attracted to men.
āI remember I cried when I realised that I thought Zac Efron was really hot. I cried. And felt really sick,ā said Sivan in the June edition of Attitude magazine.
He also opened up about dating as a gay teen, a somewhat āpredatoryā experience in a āhypersexualisedā environment.
Sivan is currently dating model Jacob Bixenman, for whom heās written a few songs. Perhaps his new hit āBloom,ā reflects on a more intimate aspect o their relationship?
