Dale Winton’s last wish has been fulfilled as his eulogy has been made public.
The Supermarket Sweep presenter, who died at the age of 62 on April 18, had his life celebrated in a star-studded ceremony carried out by Humanists UK.
And in tribute to the much-loved television personality, funeral ceremony officials Humanists UK have released the TV presenter’s eulogy to the general public.

The tribute reads: “Even to those who hardly knew him, Dale Winton was a bringer of joy. He connected with people of all types and all ages, all over the English-speaking world, communicating a flirtatious yet fundamentally innocent love of life – and laughter. It is hard to say the name, or even think of him, without smiling.”
“Just think of all those gameshow contestants, who will talk about Dale Winton for the rest of their lives; the TV and radio staff and technicians; the interviewees and other showbiz acquaintances; the millions of TV viewers; and random members of the public who bumped into him and were charmed by him.”
The funeral, which saw performances by Blue and Martine McCutcheon in honour of Winton, also paid tribute to his friendship with Cilla Black and his love of Dusty Springfield.

“Dale Winton was, as he himself acknowledged, a born game-show host. Actually, he was a lot more – a skilled interviewer, an aficionado of pop music, a witty and clever improviser, an all-round entertainer,” the eulogy added.

Humanists UK’s Chief Executive Andrew Copson commented, “We are delighted that through the new Funeral Tribute Archive we were able to help fulfil one of Dale Winton’s last wishes – that as many people as possible would be able to attend his funeral.”

Winton was said to have died in his bed, according to his friend Gloria Hunniford.
“It’s really upset me in the intervening times, so many people say to me, ‘It’s so sad that he killed himself,'” she told Loose Women.
“But he didn’t. He did not commit suicide and I’m keen to set the record straight.
“He went upstairs to have a bath or a shower, she thought it was quiet, she went upstairs in half an hour’s time and sadly found him dead in bed. Dale had a lot of things going wrong, he had pain with arthritis, he had a heart complaint, he had a chest infection, and we all know how the winter affected that. He had asthma as well. The coroner’s report will come out in two weeks’ time.”
