Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski is opening his own restaurant
Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski has revealed he is set to open his own restaurant.
The Fab Five’s resident food expert revealed the news at a panel at New York’s 92nd Street Y.
He revealed: “I’m all about like cheese and pork belly and decadence of food, and as a result of the increased vanity of being on camera all the time and working out and eating healthy, I’m developing a fast-casual food concept restaurant that I’m gonna be opening here in New York.
“You’re all invited!”
Fans hoping for Antoni-style avocado with a side dish of avocado, however, may be disappointed.
Speaking about a separate cookbook project, Porowski hinted that his signature vegetable may be off the menu.
He said: “It’s a 100-recipe cookbook. And, oh my god, not one of them has avocados in It’s turned, I realise, into my own culinary memoir, which I’m super excited about.
“I’ve submitted 50 recipes and I’m working on the rest, and I’m super excited for it to come out.”
Of his love of food, he said: “They asked me how has food been part of your life, and I realised that it’s been this constant that’s always been there in some way, shape, or form, whether it’s privately cooking for my family and loved ones and friends, to working in a professional capacity. It’s always been there.”
Elsewhere at the panel, the Fab Five opened up about the show’s first female and transgender subjects.
Karamo Brown said: “It was important of all of us from the beginning. Before we knew we were going to do a female hero, we got together and were very clear that we wanted to explore outside of just straight men.
“The first conversation we had with producers, they were like, we’re going to find a gay man. Then it was, we found a trans man, and then it was, we have a woman for you!
“We were pushing that, and if we are blessed to have more seasons, we have already talked – we want to continue this.
“We want to start working with people who have disabilities. We want to work with everyone… we are all human beings who need a little love and support to feel seen.
“That’s what this show can do, so why would we limit it just to men or just to women? We should all feel that!”
The show’s most recent season featured the show’s first female hero Miss Tammye and first transgender hero Skyler
