What comes after Pride Month? LGBT Wrath Month, according to this viral meme

Every June, the LGBT+ community comes together to celebrate Pride Month in all its glory, bringing rainbow-coloured joy to each other and the world.

But now, as we bid Pride Month a tearful goodbye, it turns out there’s a sequel.

In much the same way that, thanks to Hayley Kiyoko and her wonderful fans, 2018 is actually 20GayTeen, July has been renamed as LGBT Wrath Month.

The viral meme is sweeping the internet, and it’s absolutely for the best.

After all, a whole month of spreading joy is great, but it leaves a lot of things unsaid and necessary actions not taken. Sometimes you’ve got to let the LGBT wrath out.

And as experts on Christianity or the classic film Seven will know, pride is just one of the fabled seven deadly sins – and this month, LGBT people are being urged to channel their wrath.

The most popular post on the subject, which has attracted more than 105,000 retweets and likes, lays the concept out pretty clearly, with the message: “Pride month may be over but fear not!”

Another user simply wrote: “good morning h*terosexuals yes Gay Pride month is over and we are moving on to Gay Wrath so watch the hell out tysm.”

“Last day of pride month, hope you’ve all got your gay hexes and rainbow finish knives ready for wrath month tomorrow,” one person wrote.

Another said that “for every person that complains about those ‘bad queer people whose entire personality is their identity’ I only grow more gay.

“Now that pride month has ended and wrath month has begun, I expect my personal gayness to grow exponentially. Be warned.”

Another picture showing a rainbow with a lightning strike travelling through it was quote-tweeted with the caption “In case there were any question that July is LGBT Wrath month,” which seems conclusive enough.

Some people, however, were more enthusiastic about trying their hand at a different deadly sin.

“Lotta people joking about gay wrath month on this website but you must be out of your mind if you think I’m celebrating anything in THIS weather other than motherfu**in’ sloth,” wrote one fan.

And to be fair, it is summer.

It’s good to see a meme that includes the whole queer community, after specific but necessary memes like Is This a Pigeon?, which went viral with separate but important messages about bisexual and transgender people.
