Taylor Swift and James Corden have been cast in a Cats film, and everyone is throwing shade

A Cats film has been announced, starring Taylor Swift and James Corden – and the responses have been pretty damning.
Sir Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson will also star in the cinematic adaptation of the fourth-longest-running show in Broadway history, with Hudson taking on the role of Grizabella and Sir Ian playing Old Deuteronomy.

The news comes in the same week it was announced that a DC film is set to feature a lesbian superhero for the first time in the company’s history and The CW is developing a show starring a lesbian Batwoman.
But this latest revelation from Universal – the studio behind the Les Miserables film – did not attract the same amount of praise.

In fact, people rushed to condemn the decision to cast Corden – who starred in musical film Into The Woods – and Swift, who doesn’t seem to have any musical experience.
One person wrote: “I can’t imagine Taylor not playing the white cat lol also yes Cats is absolutely horrible and this movie will be trash.”

For context, Swift has two cats, Meredith and Olivia, named after fictional badass women Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson.
