Demi Lovato hospitalised after reported drug overdose

Demi Lovato is awake and stable following a suspected drug overdose.
The 25-year-old singer, who came out last year, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles after the fire department received a call at 11:22am on Tuesday (July 24) about a medical emergency.
She was treated on arrival with Naloxone, an anti-overdose medicine, according to TMZ.

The Sorry Not Sorry singer is now conscious and alert, reports have indicated.
Last month, Demi revealed she had broken six years of sobriety in “Sober,” an emotional song in which she apologised to her parents, fans and prospective lovers, among others.
The singer, who started using drugs and alcohol when she was 17, sung: “Momma, I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore / And daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor.

“To the ones who never left me / We’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore,” she added.
Just weeks before she released “Sober,” the global megastar pulled out of her London show just an hour before she was due onstage, saying she was “very, very sick.”
A spokesperson for Demi told the BBC: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support.

“Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.”
Messages of love and support have flooded in from celebrities, with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres writing on Twitter: “I love @DDLovato so much.
“It breaks my heart that she is going through this. She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family.”

Kehlani, who came out earlier this year and in April shared a kiss with Demi on stage, said she was “sending huge recovery love to Demi.
“This is a very personal moment and respected delicately. all we can do is send our best wishes and love. addiction isn’t simple nor easy.
“You’re very loved, @ddlovato you’ll beat this as you did before. ”

Joe Jonas, who appeared with Demi in Disney films like Camp Rock, wrote: “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now.

US singer and bisexual activist Halsey wrote: “Sending all my love to @ddlovato.

Demi, a longtime LGBT advocate, revealed last year that she was open to dating women, saying: “That’s how I’ve always felt.”
And earlier this year, she delved deeper into how she sees her sexuality, saying: “I’m very fluid, and I think love is love.
“You can find it in any gender. I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want.”

Last year, the singer chose Danica Roem, the first transgender person to be elected to the Virginia House of Representatives, to be her date to the American Music Awards.
The 25-year-old star said: “We connected because I heard her story – and when I heard [it] I was just completely inspired by it.”

As an anti-bullying activist, Demi related to Roem’s struggles, which she spoke about in her emotional YouTube documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.
The singer also helped gay couple Rayvon Owen and Shane Bitney to get engaged during one of her concerts in March.
