There is no release date yet, but she said that living in Lisbon has influenced the album’s sound.
“I’ve just met lots of really amazing musicians, and I’ve ended up working with a lot of these musicians on my new record, so Lisbon has influenced my music and my work,” she said.
“How could it not? I don’t see how I could have gone through that year without being informed by all this input of culture,” she added.
The as-yet-untitled 14th studio album will be her first since 2015’s Rebel Heart.
Rebel Heart was released to positive reviews and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart.
She also revealed that she moved to Portugal with her four youngest children because it is “not America’s finest hour.”
Madonna also spoke about her surprise role as a “soccer mom”, saying she now spends a lot of time bringing her son to and from football matches.
She hopes that her son David, who is 12, will realise his dream and become a soccer star.
Madonna, who will turn 60 August 16, spoke extensively about her children, saying she wants them to follow their dreams and “be good human beings,” according to news.com.au.
“A lot of people say to me, ‘You must really want your son to be a successful soccer player, your oldest daughter (Lourdes) to be a dancer, Rocco to be a painer.
“And I always say no, what I want for my children to be is loving, compassionate, responsible human beings. That’s all I want.”
Madonna recently made a surprise appearance as the voice of God in Ariana Grande’s music video for ‘God Is a Woman’, and recently made a heartfelt tribute to her LGBT+ fanbase from Lisbon.
She also has taken part in extensive charity work, and opened a new children’s hospital in Malawi last year.
