Britney Spears releases LGBT perfume with donation to GLAAD ahead of Brighton Pride
A Pride edition of Britney Spears’ Fantasy perfume has been released, with part of the proceeds going to LGBT group GLAAD.
The star, who is set to perform at Brighton Pride later today (August 4), wrote yesterday on Twitter: “Looking forward to celebrating love and equality at @PrideBrighton tomorrow!! To help kick off the celebration, there’s a special #Pride Edition of Fantasy available now at @superdrug stores in the UK!”

Last month, fans said that Britney’s new fragrance line, Prerogative, was a landmark gender-neutral perfume.
The wave of speculation was prompted by the “Toxic” singer tweeting that it was “a fragrance for all.”
But there’s no doubt at all that this version of Fantasy will fund a pro-LGBT cause, with £1 of each £40 bottle going to support media monitoring group GLAAD.
Britney’s announcement was met with praise and celebration from many fans.
“Queen of lgbt & pride,” wrote one.

However, some criticised the fact that only 2.5 percent of the sale price will go to GLAAD.
Activist Ethan Spibey wrote: “It’s £40 with £1 going to an LGBT+ charity, but I’m sure we’re all ok with that because we all ‘stan’ her. Honestly.”

Another tweeter said: “That’s awful tbh, she knows the LGBT+ is just gonna buy it just because :/.
“I’m pretty sure if your a true ally you wouldn’t want to profit this much on the pink pound :/.”

In April, Britney received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award, which is given to someone who has “made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance of LGBTQ people.”
Responding to the news on Instagram, the longtime LGBT ally wrote: “Honoured to be receiving the Vanguard Award at the @GLAAD Media Awards this year!
“The LGBTQ community means the absolute world to me and inspires me every day. I am proud to be an ally and I will continue to support equality and acceptance for all!!”
GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis praised Britney, saying that she had “embodied the spirit of GLAAD’s Vanguard Award by speaking out on significant issues that face her fans ― from the Dream Act to anti-transgender bills in Texas.
“She is a force in the music world who has used her global platform to share messages of love and acceptance, something that the world needs today more than ever.”
