Jonathan Van Ness Emmys 2018 red carpet look criticised by haters
Fashion icon Jonathan Van Ness has expertly taken down a hater who insulted his Emmys red carpet look.
The Queer Eye stylist was attending the awards in Los Angeles, where the Fab 5 picked up their first ever Emmy.
The Netflix revival of Bravoās Queer Eye for the Straight Guy won the āoutstanding structured reality programmeā, besting Shark Tank, Antiques Roadshow, Fixer Upper, Lip Sync Battle and Who Do You Think You Are.
But amid the celebration some haters took toĀ JVN’s Instagram, where they commented on a picture of the stylist on the red carpet.
One person called Ness āthe guy in the dressā and described him as ālike the villain in Despicable Me 3.ā
But JVN perfectly responded to the commenter and wrote, āI look fucking stunning and my name is Jonathan, snap chat filter using on your insta tiny circle private profile having self.ā
Many other social media users applauded Nessā look and plenty of celebrities piled in on the love-in.
Tess Holliday, an american plus sized model, wrote: āproud of you BB,ā while actress Kelly Ripa said: āDream. Absolute.ā
The Fab 5 won three Emmys overall and JVNās co-star Bobby Berk, interior design wizard on the show, called the moment āsurrealā on his own account, while Tan France, the showās style guru shared a selfie with the coveted prize.
āCongrats to the @QueerEye family on 3 Emmys!!! Love and inclusion takes front stage,ā Antoni Porowski, the showās food and wine expert (and thirst trap) wrote on Twitter.
āThis show is so important, thank you for what this fab five are doing to help the LGBT movement,ā creator and executive producer David Collins said upon accepting the award.
Queer Eye took home two other awards: outstanding picture editing for a structured or competition reality programme and outstanding casting for a reality programme.
āTo be recognised at all, weāve already won,āĀ Van Ness told ETĀ following the news of theirĀ nominations.
Van NessĀ was also nominated forĀ outstanding short form variety seriesĀ for his Funny or Die series,Ā Gay of Thrones, but the award went to Apple MusicāsĀ Carpool Karaoke.
Queer EyeĀ took Netflix by storm after premiering in February with its first two seasons earning a 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2004, the showās original run won an Emmy for outstanding reality programme. Its original fashion consultantĀ Carson KressleyĀ (also a judge onĀ RuPaulās Drag Race) said he was glad the reboot was nominated, but added: āit was a little more groundbreaking back when we won an Emmy in 2004.ā
Queer Eyeās third season, shot in Kansas City, will air on Netflix sometime in 2019.
