Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan reunite on stage
Former Neighbours cast-mates Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan have reunited at long last—performing an impromptu rendition of their 1988 duet “Especially For You” at Hyde Park in London.
Minogue was headlining Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park on Sunday night (September 9), when she opened the song by herself, using a choir to sing Donovan’s lines.
But, after the second chorus, she told the crowd: “I need a dance partner.”
Donovan, who was in a relationship with Minogue in the late 1980s, then walked on stage and the pair started dancing together.
At one point, Donovan even swept Minogue up in his arms and span her around on stage.
He also sang with Minogue towards the end of the song.
Posting on Twitter afterwards, Donovan said that his appearance was unplanned.
He wrote: “I literally turned up on my bike to support my friend @kylieminogue and next thing you know I’m onstage @BBCRadio2 Hyde Park in front of 70,000 people recreating those dance moves Especially For You 1988 .. mad! Loved every second.”
Many social media users compared the moment to Minogue and Donovan’s appearance on Top of the Pops in 1988, where they sang the song together.
❤️ @kylieminogue + @JDonOfficial = Reunited at last! ❤️
