Man stabs friend in neck after gay sex
A man has been arrested for stabbing his friend in the neck after they had gay sex in St. Petersburg, Florida.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Drake, 38, went over to the home of 54-year old Mark Kimball, who he knew, in 77th Street North on Thursday (September 6) to have consensual sex.
Kimball said that, afterwards, Drake attacked him with a knife and cut him in the neck.
The 54-year old then left his home and walked down the street with a towel around his neck looking for help.
A resident further along 77th Street North found the injured Kimball on his property and called police.
By the time police arrived Kimball had “already been transported to a local hospital for serious injuries that included lacerations to his neck,” reported the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies then began searching for Drake when they received a call at about 11pm—approximately five hours after the incident—to a burglary at another house in 77th Street North.
When they arrived, they found Drake at the property.
The victim of the burglary said they did not want to prosecute Drake.
Police then arrested Drake and charged him with attempted murder in the second degree.
The police said Drake admitted to stabbing Kimball with a kitchen knife.
Deputies also found the kitchen knife—between 10 and 12 inches long—used in the attack at Drake’s home.
Drake is currently being held in Pinellas County Jail.
Recently in Florida, a man, who described gay people as a “disgrace,” was given the death penalty for murdering a gay couple he met on Craigslist back in 2010.
Peter Avsenew, 32, was convicted last year of murdering Kevin Adams and Steven Powell at their home in Wilton Manors, reports Local 10 News.
Adams and Powell were found shot dead and wrapped in blankets on Boxing Day in 2010.
