Made in Chelsea’s Ollie Locke is engaged and will become Ollie Locke-Locke

Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke has announced he is engaged to partner Gareth Locke — and that the couple will become the Locke-Lockes.

The 30-year-old reality TV personality, who came out as gay in 2016, revealed last week that Gareth had popped the question on September 23.

And now the star, who has written Laid in Chelsea: My Life Uncovered, has told Hello! that he and Gareth will create a new name when they tie the knot — made of both their names.

“We are going to be Locke-Locke,” he said.

“I like the idea that his family and my family will be joined together.”

Ollie also recounted the moment when, after knowing each other for 10 years, he and Gareth knew they wanted to alter their relationship in a life-changing way.

“We were sat in front of a fire for two hours and I realised that things had changed between us,” he said.

“I thought he was the one very early on; I was pretty sure that this was something that would be for the rest of my life.”

Gareth, who is clothing company Holland Cooper’s commercial director, said: “We were both in different places in our lives when we first met, but I definitely think it came at the right time and if it came any earlier I think it would probably have been very different.”

The pair revealed that they became engaged when Gareth proposed during a stroll through the park with Ollie’s dog, Bear.

“We decided to go for a lovely walk with Bear in Kensington Park Gardens which is my favourite park and we came across the Peter Pan statue, which is my favourite statue,” Ollie said.

“I walked towards Gareth who was just standing there and he gave me a hug…”

Gareth chipped in, saying: “I was 200 yards away and I was thinking: ‘I have got to do this now.'”

On Instagram, by a picture of the pair’s engagement announcement, Ollie wrote: “I have known him for 10 years, and at many of my most important life moments he was in the background.

“Earlier this year we realised that what we had both been looking for was standing in front of us all along, the greatest hint was probably that we already have the same surname!

“I have never been happier and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with someone who makes me smile like this every day! On Sunday I said yes.”

Ollie, who tried to solve his singledom in 2016 by releasing a dating app, has also spoken to PinkNews to raise awareness of HIV among young gay and bisexual men while, revealing that his uncle died from the virus.

He said: “My uncle died from HIV and I think that it’s something incredibly important.

“HIV ripped apart my family. My uncle was my mum’s only brother. He was gay and died in the eighties.”
