PinkNews Awards 2018 In Pictures: Tony Blair, Jeremy Corbyn, Courtney Act

The sixth annual PinkNews Awards took place last night at Church House in Westminster, with some of the UK’s most prominent politicians and personalities turning out to show their support for the LGBT+ community.
Tony Blair (Paul Grace)
Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was in attendance to present a Lifetime Achievement Award to LGBT+ charity, Stonewall.
Speaking at the event, Blair celebrated advancements in LGBT+ rights, saying: “The country is united in appreciation of the LGBT+ community and in appreciation that LGBT+ is not against nature but a part of nature.”

Also in attendance was leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, who was one of the keynote speakers at the event.
In his speech, he reaffirmed his party’s commitment to transgender rights, and also hit out at Conservative cuts, which he says have harmed LGBT+ sexual health provisions.

Meanwhile, Australian drag queen Courtney Act was also in attendance, who spoke to PinkNews about the importance of the Gender Recognition Act.
Other high profile figures who attended included Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, singer Will Young, the founding members of charity Stonewall, and former Labour leader Ed Miliband.
