Fans think Ariana Grande just came out as lesbian in new song

Music fans are speculating over whether Ariana Grande just came out as lesbian in her new song “Thank U, Next.”
The 25-year-old singer released her latest track on Sunday (November 4), which referenced her recent high-profile break-up with comedian Pete Davidson.
“Even almost got married,” sings Grande. “And for Pete, I’m so thankful.”
The song refers to a woman called “Ari,” an abbreviation of Grande’s first name, Ariana. However, there was some confusion when fans thought she was shouting out a woman called Aubrey.
“But this one gon’ last,” sings Grande. “‘Cause her name is Ari / And I’m so good with that.”
She goes on to chime: “She taught me love / She taught me patience.
“How she handles pain / That sh*t’s amazing.”
Some social media users posted screenshots of the lyrics as listed by Apple Music, which mistakenly stated that the woman Grande refers to is”Aubrey” instead of “Ari.”

Another said: “I’m dead that so many people thought ariana grande came out by shouting out her new girlfriend Aubrey that it TRENDED.”
One Twitter user posted: “Did..did Ariana Grande just tell her ex fiancée that she’s a lesbian now? In a song??”
And one person exclaimed: “omg I just was googling Ariana lesbian rumors like WHO IS AUBREY lmao.”
Other Twitter users simply responded with GIFs expressing their excitement over the prospect of Grande liking women.

Grande has a big LGBT+ following.
In April, queer fans lauded her track “No Tears Left to Cry” as a gay anthem.
The song was her first musical release since her concert in Manchester was targeted by a terrorist bombing last year.
Grande has spoken out about the impact of the terrorist attack on her mental health, and revealed she is suffering from PTSD since the bombing.
Grande’s brother, Franke Grande, who is gay, recently revealed he is in a relationship with a married gay couple.
