Jack White slams security for stopping lesbian kiss at gig

Musician Jack White has criticised security staff at his gig, after two women were reportedly told they couldn’t kiss each other.
White posted on Instagram about the incident, which took place at his November 2 show at Rogers Place in Edmonton in Canada, saying he dedicated a track at his next gig to the two women and asked audience members to kiss their partners.
“The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me,” White wrote on Wednesday (November 7).

“At the next show in Calgary I dedicated the song ‘love interruption’ to the two women and encouraged everyone in the crowd to kiss their loved ones.
“Let’s promote love and acceptance wherever and whenever we can.”
White also uploaded a photo of a lesbian couple sharing a kiss at concert by The Beatles in 1964, which he said is “one of my favorite photos.”
Security says “That’s not allowed here” at Jack White’s show
Allyson MacIvor, who is also a musician, said she was left “shocked” and “dumbfounded” by the incident at White’s show at Rogers Place on November 2.
In a lengthy Facebook post, which has since gone viral, she explained that she had kissed her friend during a song played in the final encore.
“We were immediately interrupted by a young Rogers Place worker, who pulled me to the side, away from my seat, waving her finger disapprovingly, saying ‘that’s not allowed here.'”

MacIvor said she challenged the member of staff and was taken to the manager’s office, who apologised to the two women over the incident.
She explained: “When we approached the office, the worker told it as she saw it: ‘They were kissing at their seats during the encore, which is inappropriate sexual behaviour.’
“The manager, taking the reigns, asked her to resume her post, as the young worker walked away, glaring in disapproval at my friend and I.”
Rogers Place apologises
She added: “The arena staff were very apologetic, as I wrote an incident report, with tears in my eyes, realizing we still live in a world where I have to watch my back as a ‘gay’ woman, and apparently, I still have to watch whom I kiss, even at Rogers Place.
MacIvor’s post has been liked by more than 1,500 people.
Hundreds of people have posted messages of support below the video.
“Proud of you and be who you are and live freely,” one person wrote. “Never worry about how others judge you. People can be cruel but there is a lot of good people out there who love you and support you ❤❤.”
