Caitlyn Jenner confirms she’s safe after fleeing California fires

Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out after reports that her Malibu mansion was destroyed by the 2018 California fires.
Jenner was among thousands forced to flee their homes on November 9, after the California fires ravaged the area surrounding her Malibu home.
The former Olympian’s luxury home was reported to have been damaged by the fire, while Kim Kardashian West, Will Smith, Lady Gaga and Alyssa Milano also had to flee their homes in the star-studded area.

Jenner assured fans she is safe after fleeing the house, in videos uploaded to Instagram.
“It was devastating out there in Malibu. You can see the hills are just totally scorched.”
In the first clip on November 9, Jenner and reported partner Sophia Hutchins confirm they and their dogs are at a “safe house.”
Jenner says: “Hi, Caitlyn and Sophia here. Well, we’re safe. At a safe house.
“Don’t know if the house made it or not, it’s still up in the air. Anyway, we’re safe and sound, and the dogs are in the backyard.”
Hutchins explains that “the dogs are in the pool, swimming around, having a good time,” before Jenner quips: “They’re having a good day – I don’t think we’re having that good a day… but anyway!”
Hutchins adds: “We’re having a vodka, it’s been a hell of a morning, but we’re safe and that’s all that matters.”

In a second video uploaded on November 11, Jenner confirms her house has not been destroyed, despite devastation in the surrounding area.
She says: “A quick update, we finally made it back to the house. The house made it! It was devastating. It was devastating out there in Malibu. You can see the hills are just totally scorched.
“We’re very, very lucky. Very lucky.”

Hutchins added: “We’re thinking of everyone and praying for everyone, hoping you’re all safe with your loved ones.”

The California fires 2018 have consumed more than 400 square miles, with more than 150,000 people displaced across the area.
31 people have died.
Thousands of firefighters have attempted to battle the blaze, but strong winds and dry conditions led to the rapid spread of the fires.
