Man impaled on table leg in Grindr date gone wrong

Police are seeking a potential witness after a man plunged three floors from a Sydney balcony and was impaled on a table leg on the same day he met up with another man on a dating app.
The Swedish-American national is in a critical condition in intensive care at St Vincent’s Hospital following the incident.
Local press are reporting that the Swedish-American man met up with another man earlier that day on gay dating app Grindr.
Police were called to an apartment block in Brisbane Street in the Surry Hills area of the city at 4pm on Sunday November 4.

It was reported that a man had fallen three floors from a balcony to a ground-floor patio and was impaled on a table leg.
New South Wales Police search for “potential witness”
New South Wales Police Force have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to about the incident, which they believe “may have information crucial to their inquiries.”
The man is described as having a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance with a slim build, dark hair. He was wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans at the time.
Police believe the man in the footage met up with the 37-year-old via a dating app earlier that day.
The video shows the potential witness entering the block of flats and looking at himself in a mirror.

He later exits the block of flats carrying a bag.
The man initially struggles to leave the building and is helped by another man, before he exits using a different set of doors.
Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact the police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
New South Wales Police Force are urging the public to use dating apps with caution.
Detective superintendent Gavin Wood said: “Know who you are meeting, where you’re meeting them, what their intentions are and perhaps establish some safeguards beforehand such as providing close friends with those details.”
