Gay couple cover A Star is Born duet and it’s heartwarming
A gay couple have recorded their own cover of an iconic duet from A Star is Born, and it’s super heartwarming.
Real-life boyfriends Connor Smith and Drew Tablak, who live together in Los Angeles, decided to record a cover of a track from the acclaimed movie, which stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper as star-crossed lovers.
Smith and Tablak drew on their own relationship for their cover of track “Always Remember Us This Way,” one of the film’s most emotional duets.
The YouTube video features photos and mementos from the pair’s relationship as they sing the song to one another.
“After seeing A Star is Born, Drew and I both knew we needed to sing this song.”

Smith explained to PinkNews: “We’re both singers in our own right, but this is the first time in our relationship that we’ve recorded a song together, and we couldn’t be more proud of the result.”
He added: “After seeing A Star is Born, Drew and I both knew we needed to sing this song, and what better way than to record it as a duet! We hope you enjoy our take on Lady Gaga’s ‘Always Remember Us This Way.'”
The A Star is Born cover is getting love
Fans on YouTube praised the performance.
One commenter wrote: “I love this so beautiful. You need to do more songs together.”
Another added: “Omg y’all got me crying over here…beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe this duet. The film is amazing, too.”
Smith came out in a YouTube video in 2017.
In the video, he spoke about being gay and Christian, saying: “My sexuality is a gift from God. It is part of how he specifically designed me, and it’s not something that I am supposed to renounce.”
A Star Is Born has some surprising LGBT connections
A Star is Born, a modern remake of the cinematic classic, came out in September.
The film featured some surprising cameos from former RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Shangela Laquifa Wadley and Willam Belli.
The pair pop up as fading rock star Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) watches wannabe singer Ally (Lady Gaga) perform at a local drag bar.
In the movie, Shangela and Willam play drag queens at Ally’s local club. Shangela, the bar’s MC, is presented as Ally’s drag mother.
“LG [Lady Gaga] would really like you to come in to audition for this role,” Shangela told Metro about landing the part. “I guess you could say she did hand-pick me to audition for the role.”
