Adele married Alan Carr and his husband in her back garden: ‘She got ordained’

Adele married Alan Carr and his now-husband Paul Drayton in her back garden, in an all-white get-up worthy of Moira Rose.
Adele and Alan had viewers in tears of laughter during Sunday’s (21 November) An Audience With Adele, with the singer stitching up her friend by getting him up on stage and forcing him to sing.
The pair have been close friends for years, with Adele even getting ordained to marry Carr and his now-husband in an adorable act of generosity.
The comedian married Drayton in January 2018 after 10 years of dating. Shortly after, he revealed on The One Show that Adele had hosted their wedding at her Los Angeles home.
Speaking on the programme, Carr said that Adele is “the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever,” and got ordained in order to perform the ceremony.
“She’s known me and Paul for ages, and she said: ‘I want to do your special day. Let me do everything.’
“So she did everything, and she got ordained, and she married us. She is the kindest, most sweetest, loveliest person ever.”

Carr revealed that the star sang for their first dance – but kept his lips sealed over the song choice.
She also organised the flowers and meal for the ceremony, making “the best day of my life”, he added.
After the comedian revealed the news, Adele posted a picture to Instagram of herself wearing a white dress and a cross.
Posing in front of a bed of roses, the singer also used the caption to voice her support for same-sex marriage.
“You know me any excuse to dress up… @chattyman #LoveisLove,” she wrote.
Carr was forced to step in during An Audience With Adele when the singer ruined her make-up.
She was left in tears after a surprise reunion with her favourite teacher, who she hadn’t seen since she was at school. Running off stage to touch up her make-up, she called on Carr to cover for her.
As she walked off, she told her band: “Play ‘Make You Feel My Love’ and get Alan to sing it.”
Carr’s tone-deaf rendition had viewers in the audience and at home in hysterics. On her return, Adele laughed: “Now that’s a true friend.”
