Ryan Murphy launches fund to stop ‘anti-LGBTQ’ politicians

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy has announced a new fund to stop “anti-LGBTQ” candidates running for office.
Murphy, who is also executive producer on FX’s Pose, said that he would launch a new organisation, which would target anti-LGBT+ candidates trying for roles in 20 congressional races in 2020, reports CNN.
He said the fund would also be used to increase LGBT+ voter registration.
“I think it’s now possible to create a movement to protect and nourish our own.”

Speaking at the 2018 TrevorLIVE Los Angeles gala on Monday (December 3), Murphy said that the fund will be officially set up in 2020 and would “target anti-LGBTQ candidates running for office.”
Murphy said he had been inspired to create the fund after the results of the US midterm elections in November.
He added: “I want these hateful and wrong politicians to go and to stop polluting our moral and ethical ether.
“Based on this fall, I think it’s now possible to create a movement to protect and nourish our own.”
Murphy said the money would be used in an attempt to topple candidates “who think they can get votes by hurting and discriminating against us.”

Murphy named a few specific anti-LGBT+ politicians who would be targeted by his fund, including Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who was criticised by comedian Rosie O’Donnell in September when he questioned the accounts of women that had accused the then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual harassment and misconduct.
He also singled out Susan Collins of Maine, who was criticised for her support of Brett Kavanaugh’s election to the Supreme Court in October, and Mike Lee of Utah, who opposes equal marriage and re-introduced a controversial religious freedom bill in the state in March.

Murphy recently opened up about his son’s battle with cancer.
In an emotional Instagram post on October 22, Murphy revealed his youngest son Ford, who was born in 2014, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 2.
In the post, Murphy also announced a $10 million donation to a cancer hospital so that more children could benefit from the care Ford received.
The American Horror Story creator, who is behind a number of massively-successful TV shows, has two children with husband David Miller.
