Michelle Visage was ‘frightened to death’ when Trump was elected

Michelle Visage has opened up about the impact Donald Trump’s election had on her family, saying that they were “frightened to death” by the news.
Visage, who has been a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race since 2011, said she was on a gay cruise with 300 queer people, as well as her family, when the news of Trump’s election broke.
“I’ve got a queer daughter, and she was sobbing,” Visage told The Sun. “It’s scary for her.”
“He’s trying to erase everything our brothers and sisters have fought so hard to make happen,” she added.
Visage made the comments when she was asked about her role in musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
She said it was “a lovely story with some great music,” and continued: “It’s very of the now, especially with what’s going on in America with our regime that’s ruining our good, fair country.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race
In the interview, Michelle Visage also said that she loves “the glitz and glamour” of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
“For me it’s about the integrity, tenacity and spirit,” she added.
She also spoke about her love of the LGBT+ community, saying she had never felt welcome in “heteronormative groups.”
“I was never pretty enough or cool enough. I was the class weirdo, but I didn’t own that weirdo moniker until much later.”

Visage said that the gay community welcomed her “with open arms” when she first moved to New York.
Michelle Visage also weighed in on controversial comments that were made earlier this year by RuPaul in an interview with the Guardian. In the interview, RuPaul suggested that trans women might not be welcome contestants on the show.
But Visage told The Sun: “Everyone has always been welcome, and trans women have always been a part of the drag spectrum.”
Michelle Visage’s love of the queer community
As well as serving as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Michelle Visage also made a name for herself as a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.
She was also formerly a member of R&B group Seduction.
While she has spoken about her fondness and admiration for the LGBT+ community, she is straight and is married to screenwriter David Case.
She is a vocal defender of the queer community, and two years ago she made headlines when she helped a struggling teen find shelter for the night.
The gay teenager had been kicked out of his home by his parents, which prompted him to reach out to Michelle Visage.
“Tell me it gets better,” he asked her.
She tweeted to her 291,000 followers at the time: “I need urgent help,” and asked people in the area to come forward to offer shelter for the teenager.
She also made waves when she hit out at rapper Azealia Banks for her use of the word ‘faggot’, and has also publicly criticised her Celebrity Big Brother housemates Katie Hopkins and Perez Hilton.
