New York man calls woman ‘dyke’ and breaks her spine

A man who saw a woman kissing another woman on the New York subway called one of them a “dyke” and punched her so hard that he broke her spine.
The suspect reportedly became angry after seeing the two women share a kiss on the cheek on the E train to Manhattan on November 30, according to the Gothamist.
The man and the victim then got into an argument, which the women tried to walk away from, only for the suspect to follow and punch her in the back of the head.
He then shoved her down, causing her head to strike the floor, before fleeing the train at the next stop, Forest Hills-71st Ave.
The victim, who was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Centre, had a fractured spine after the attack.
The New York Police Department’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating, and anyone with information about the suspect—who was reported as being 5’11”, 220lbs and between 50 and 60 years old—is encouraged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline on 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish-speaking callers.
Anti-lesbian attacks
Last year, a 27-year-old Brooklyn man was indicted on charges of assault as a hate crime after entering into an argument with a lesbian couple on the subway and punching one of the women in the face, knocking her unconscious.
He also called the victim, who needed eight stitches, a “faggot” and “dyke.”
A mother revealed last month that her lesbian daughter had been attacked by around four male students at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, leaving her with three broken ribs.

The pupil’s mother went public with the incident, which took place in March 2017, after an investigation by the school failed to identify the students who targeted the 11th-grade girl.
In August, another student, 15-year-old lesbian Amari Graves, was attacked in Austin, Chicago, by a gang including a girl from her school and several adults who beat her and tore her clothes off while hurling anti-gay slurs.
The group jumped Amari while she was walking to the shops, using mace and a baseball bat to terrorise her, she said.
Speaking about one of her assailants, she said: “When I was walking she tried to pull a bat out and swing it at me.
“They were calling me ‘a dyke’ and ‘a stud’ and stuff.”
The adults and student then proceeded to stomp and kick Amari, she said, spraying her with mace while also attempting to take off her clothes.
