In a recent poll by Differio.com—the USA’s top online gay fashion store—gay male customers were quizzed over which items they wanted most for the holidays.
Poll options included: onesies; shoes; bags; jeans; jackets; jewellery; sweaters and grooming products.
Among these menswear categories, onesies were found to be the most popular.
Differio reported that men’s jumpsuits, onesies, rompers and overalls are all popular items during Pride month.
However, customers have been buying one-piece styles all year round, regardless of Pride season’s peak in June.
Style icons like David Bowie have meant that jumpsuits have been a popular look in gay fashion since the 1970s.
Even Gilbert baker (LGBT+ activist and designer of the rainbow flag) confessed in an interview with Refinery 29 that “taffeta jumpsuits” were one of the reasons he bought his first sewing machine in 1972. He confessed he wanted to “look like Mick Jagger and David Bowie.”

The year Vogue declared that, “overalls for men are happening, big time.”
Esquire included a “dude romper” among the top styles spotted at Coachella 2018, and British GQ advised readers they should “jump into a jumpsuit” for the spring season.
