Antoni Porowski’s underwear shoot removed by Instagram
A photoshoot of Queer Eye’s Antoni Poroswki in his underwear has been removed by Instagram for violating nudity rules.
The photographer responsible for the viral photoshoot – which saw Porowski strip down to a pair of Calvin Klein briefs – has hit back at Instagram for the decision.
“WTF is so offensive about a human body? We all have one!”
– Damon Baker
Writing on his own Instagram story, Damon Baker said: “There was nothing pornographic or nude about my pictures of Antoni but Instagram deleted the post so now I’m sad and upset.
“WTF is so offensive about a human body? We all have one!” he added.
Antoni Porowski’s photoshoot went viral
The photoshoot quickly went viral as fans shared the images widely when they were posted last week.
In the original post, Baker posted the photos with the caption: “In my studio with @antoni at 8AM listening to Placebo.”
He also did an online Q&A on Instagram afterwards with fans.
The photos of Queer Eye’s food expert Antoni Porowski drew acclaim from across the world.
One wrote: “Why must you kill my ovaries like this?!? I’ll never find a hetero lover as gorgeous as you.”
Another person said: ” IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO BE THIS GOOD LOOKING.”
And a third person posted: “You’re one of those people that I’m just so attracted to and obsessed with for no particular reason.”
Antoni Porowski and Trace Lehnhoff become Instagram official
His thirsty Calvin Klein photoshoot was not the only reason Antoni Porowski was in the news last week.
He also made headlines after becoming Instagram official with his boyfriend, Trace Lehnhoff.
Porowski posted a photo of the pair holding hands on December 11, and fans went wild.
One wrote: “Wow, I’m gonna cry!!!!!!!”
Another said: “Why do you look so cute???”
And a third person responded: “Worlds are colliding and my heart is singing.”
The pair also appeared on the red carpet earlier this month at the GQ Men of the Year Party in Los Angeles.
Us Weekly also previously reported that Porowski brought Lehnhoff to several Emmy parties in September as his date.
Porowski has been keeping busy since the second season of Queer Eye was released on Netflix in June.
In December, it was revealed that Porowski would feature in the Broadway show Celebrity Autobiography alongside his Queer Eye co-star Jonathan Van Ness.
Porowski also announced in June that he was set to open his own restaurant in New York, and revealed that he is working on a cookbook.
Fans also went wild when he marched alongside Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Montreal’s Pride parade.
Instagram: a history of removing content with nudity
This is not the first time that Instagram has come under fire for removing content.
The photo-sharing platform was forced to apologise in July after they removed a photo of two men kissing for “violating community guidelines.”
Consonni’s photo, which shows long-term gay couple Jordan Bowen and Luca Lucifer, was published in a piece in I-D magazine called “is pizza is the only thing better than love? [sic]”
However, the photo was taken down, which prompted Bowen to write: “My relationship of seven years with @iamlucalucifer reduced to a Community Guideline.”
Instagram responded by saying it had been removed in error and apologised. They also reinstated the photo.
In June, Instagram also deactivated the Warwick Rowers’ Instagram account.
The Warwick Rowers share nude photos of themselves to help raise awareness of homophobia in sport. Within a day, Instagram reinstated the account.
