ā€œAs a gay guy myself, tonightā€™s episode was so special to me,ā€ BorelliĀ posted.

ā€œThis is exactly the kind of story I craved as a young gay kid growing up in Ohio, and it blows my mind that Iā€™m able to bring life to Dr. Levi Schmitt as he begins to grapple with his own sexuality this season onĀ Greyā€™s Anatomy.”

ā€œSoā€¦ Iā€™m gay. Many of you may have already known that,ā€ he wrote.

ā€œI donā€™t expect everyone to understand or accept me. But please be gracious enough to not push your beliefs on me or anyone in the LGBTQ community.

ā€œMy hope is this post will inspire each and every one of you to be more empathetic and loving towards one another.ā€

American model and YouTuber Cassandra Banson publicly came out as a lesbian to her 800,000 subscribers in a video on her YouTube channel in April.Ā

“I’ve wanted to share but I’ve been afraid of alienating people, because I do have followers from the Midwest, India, and Southern America who have more conservative ideals,” she said.

“I know I shouldn’t seek approval from anybody else, but we are human and we want to be loved and appreciated for who we are, so there is that fear that I won’t get that.”

She added: “But I also have an obligation to be fully authentic. I struggled with self-harm growing up, and a lot of that stemmed from trying to mitigate my attraction to other women. I was destroying myself over something I can’t change. Maybe this will be the wake up call to someone who is homophobic or hateful, to show that who I love doesn’t change who I am.”

The 31 year old,Ā who has won the Ladies European Tour six times, said she is gay in an interview withĀ Athlete Ally, which campaigns for LGBT+ inclusivity in sport.

Reid, who has been appointed as an ambassador for Athlete Ally, said: ā€œI protected my sexuality for a long time because I thought I had to in order to help my career and to get more sponsors.

ā€œBut then I started to wonder why these companies would want to sponsor me and have me represent them if I canā€™t be my authentic self.

ā€œThere is only one of you in the world and you have one life, so be the best version of yourself and be proud of who you are. Thatā€™s when you attract the right people around you to make you better, and ultimately, happier.ā€

He added: ā€œI wanted to do this video as well, because when I think about all the kids out there that are being bullied, or are really struggling with their sexuality, even teenage or adults, I just want you to know that you are not alone.ā€

And a worthy mention to these everyday people who have also faced coming out as gay. Listen to their great advice:
