Fyre Festival is known as the world’s biggest festival disaster, and you can now watch the documentary about it on Netflix.
It was meant to be a music festival on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma in spring of 2017… but the party never happened as the organisers were defrauding ticket buyers, and the two weekends were the furthest thing from what was advertised.
On January 10, 2019, Netflix released a trailer for the Fyre Festival documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. This was released today (January 18) and is ready to be watched. You can also watch Fyre Fraud on Hulu.

Organised by Fyre Media founder Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, the event was promoted on Instagram by A-listers such as Kendall Jenner, model Bella Hadid, actress Emily Ratajkowski, and several other social media influencers.
Many of these promoters did so illegally as they didn’t disclose that the post was a paid advert. They have since removed the posts.
When the fraud became known, Hadid was one of few who apologised for endorsing the shady event.
The organisers are facing eight lawsuits including one demanding over $100 million in damages.
On October 11, 2018, fraudster McFarland was sentenced to six years behind bars after he pled guilty to wire fraud.
He was sentenced in a federal court in Manhattan, where Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald called him a “serial fraudster.”
What was Fyre Festival supposed to look like? How was it advertised?
Festival-goers were expecting luxury accommodation, amazing food and a great line-up. Instead, they got leaky tents, cheese sandwiches and the Blink-182 and Migos, who were on the line-up, were cancelled.
Angered customers, who had paid thousands for the event, took to social media to share their stories with the hashtag #fyrefraud.
