Olivia Colman and Emma Stone ‘giggled’ during The Favourite fingering scene
Olivia Colman has discussed being fingered by Emma Stone in a lesbian sex scene in period drama The Favourite, saying that the pair “struggled with not giggling.”
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Colman said that she, Stone and Rachel Weisz spent weeks rehearsing the Oscar-tipped movie’s lesbian sex scenes.
Colman explained that, for the most part, she didn’t feel awkward because of the amount of time she spent practising with Stone and Weisz.
The Favourite’s Olivia Colman: “Snogging Rachel Weisz is like you’ve won the lottery”
“I tend to try to avoid anything like that as it makes me giggle and I get very embarrassed,” Colman told The Sunday Times.
“But we had two or three weeks’ rehearsal and so we couldn’t be embarrassed in front of each other. We had rolled on the floor, and giggled, and eaten together and shared everything. We’d become very good friends.
“The other bit—being fingered by Emma Stone—we really struggled with not giggling at that.”

“Snogging is fine, because snogging Rachel Weisz is like you’ve won the lottery.”
However, Colman added: “The other bit—being fingered by Emma Stone—we really struggled with not giggling at that.”
According Janina Ramirez, author of the The Sunday Times interview, Colman also put a wet sponge between her legs “as a surprise for Stone, who jumped back in horror when she felt it.”
Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, The Favourite follows the reign of Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) when England is at war with France.
The Favourite leads BAFTA and Oscar nominations
The Favourite portrays two cousins, Lady Sarah (Weisz) and Abigail (Stone), who fight it out to be court favourites of Queen Anne, including their lesbian affairs with the monarch.
The film has been leading the award nominations and is up for 12 BAFTAs and 10 Oscars.
It joins several other LGBT+ themed movies in the running for prestigious accolades, including Green Book, which is up for five Oscars and four BAFTA awards.
Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, directed by Bryan Singer, who is facing multiple sexual assault allegations, is up for a number of BAFTAs and Oscars, too.
