Lady Gaga and Cardi B finally met at the Grammys on Sunday (February 10).

The two performers shared a moment at the ceremony, when Gaga approached Cardi B to congratulate her for making history as the first solo female artist to win a best rap album Grammy award.

It’s not clear what the two told one another, but pictures of the encounter show Cardi B looking in equal parts delighted and in disbelief as she poses with her idol.

Cardi B has previously credited Lady Gaga for inspiring her to be herself as be different as a teenager.

“When I was a teenager lady Gaga changed my life. She inspired me to be myself & be different” the “Money” singer wrote on Twitter in 2016.

Gaga replied to that tweet in 2018, simply writing: “Love you girl.”

Cardi B is evidently still part of the Little Monsters fan base, posting on Twitter in January the chorus to Gaga’s 2009 hit “Monster” and sparking calls among her supporters to work together with her.

Lady Gaga too seems to appreciate Cardi B’s music, posting an Instagram story on Sunday of herself celebrating her three Grammy awards to the tune of Cardi’s “I Like It,” particularly the part that references her “Paparazzi” song.

“Mood after winning three Grammys, a BAFTA, and finally meeting Cardi B all on a Sunday evening,” Lady Gaga wrote.

Lady Gaga received awards in the category Best Pop Solo Performance for “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?)” as well as Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her “Shallow” duet with Bradley Cooper from A Star Is Born and a further award for “Shallow,” which was recognised as Best Song Written For Visual Media.

Cardi B isn’t the only artist Lady Gaga rocked out to at the Grammys.

The “Born This Way” singer was filmed standing on her feet and dancing during Janelle Monáe’s performance of the song “Make Me Feel.”

Monáe, who was pictured earlier that evening hand in hand with Lady Gaga, changed the lyrics to the song, which was originally gender neutral.

She sang: “Girl you make me, boy you make me, hey, hey, you make me feel” as the audience went wild.

Monáe, who came out as queer last year and dedicated her Grammy nominations to her “trans brothers and sisters,” was one of several LGBT+ artists who performed on stage at the Grammys.

Lesbian singer Brandi Carlile performed her hit “The Joke” winning praise from Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick along with her three Grammys.

Queer artist St Vincent, who won a Grammy for Best Rock Song for “Masseduction” written along with LGBT+ ally Jack Antonoff, performed a duet with Dua Lipa, playing “One Kiss.”
