RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 joint winner Trinity the Tuck has defended herself against claims an old lady costume she wore was offensive.

The drag queen, who won the show’s fourth season along with Monét X Change last week, shocked some viewers by dressing up as an elderly woman for Episode 7‘s lip sync.

Trinity defended her actions in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Monday (February 18), admitting: “I’m not always the most politically correct queen.”

“I’m a drag queen,” she added. “I come from old-school nightclub drag where I entertain adults. I do understand that this show has all types of audiences, but I was allowed to do it.”

“They’re okay with us talking about vagina, penis, and anal sex, but they’re not okay with us picking on other things.”

“I thought it was funny, and I still stand by it. It’s part of my sense of humour. I feel like certain fans pick and choose what they get offended by,” continued Trinity.

“They’re okay with us talking about vagina, penis, and anal sex, but they’re not okay with us picking on other things. It’s a very pick-and-choose fandom.

“It’s okay if people don’t like that. My type of entertainment is not for everybody, but I appreciate the fans who get it.”

For the first time in Drag Race herstory, the show crowned two winners in Friday’s (February 15) finale, with Trinity the Tuck and Monét X Change both becoming champions.

The twist left fans of the show reeling, following a season that was largely without surprises apart from the shock elimination of favourite Manila Luzon.

Some fans even pointed out that declaring the contest a tie came despite RuPaul’s complaints about so-called ‘participation trophy’ culture.

Speaking to SiriusXM in 2016, RuPaul recalled: “A friend of mine has a kid who goes to Little League, and if a kid strikes out, the kid still gets to run the bases.

“You know the story, where all the kids at school get a ribbon, and nobody loses? That sets kids up for a terrible disappointment, because life is not that way.

“If you do good, if you work hard, you’ll get it, but you don’t get a ribbon just because you showed up! It sets people up for this huge disappointment.”

The mother of drag continued: “I think it has to do with the parents not being willing to experience the disappointment through their kids. It’s a selfish thing they do with that. I think life is hard.”

RuPaul added: “Life is hard, and that’s okay, because you have the opportunity to earn your position on this planet. If you don’t have those hard knocks, who are you?
