Netflix has released the first trailer for the third season of Stranger Things, with a release date confirmed for July 4—coinciding with America’s Independence Day.

The nearly three-minute trailer, released on Wednesday (March 20), shows the Stranger Things gang surprising Dustin, who has been away for a mysterious reason, with a welcome home party—resulting in him inadvertently pepper spraying his friends.

The camera then pans through a variety of locations, including a swimming pool and restaurant, with Mike noting: “We’re not kids anymore. I mean, what did you think? We’re just gonna sit in my basement all day? Play games for the rest of our lives?”

Stranger Things cast marked first Stranger Things day in November

On November 6, Brown, who was forced off social media being turned into a series of anti-gay memes by internet trolls last year, and the cast of Stranger Things celebrated the first-ever Stranger Things Day on social media.

The Stranger Things crew marked the momentous occasion by sharing a video on the show’s official Twitter account on Tuesday (November 6).

“YOUR BFFS WISH YOU A HAPPY #STRANGERTHINGSDAY,” the caption read.

The description for the Stranger Things Twitter account has also been changed to read: “HAPPY STRANGER THINGS DAY.”

The date was chosen because, within the show’s lore, November 6, 2018 marks the 35th anniversary of character Will Byers’ disappearance.
