Little did they know, Good Morning America arranged a surprise for them, bringing over Mama Tammye—the first woman to undergo a Queer Eye makeover—and her son Myles to the New York studios.

Queer Eye fans will remember Tammye from the first episode of Season 2, when the Fab Five ventured to the town of Gay, Georgia—population: 89—to help her reconnect with her gay son and revamp the local church’s new community centre.

“Dear God, one of the biggest blessings you brought is five boys that I am now proud to call my sons.”

The reunion had a surprise within a surprise—Tammye first appeared on camera, but then joined the Fab Five in the studio. Myles, who was sitting in the audience, also only joined in afterwards,

Tammye decided to read a page of her journal dated March 14, which takes the form of a prayer.

“Dear God, one of the biggest blessings you brought—to not only to me, but the whole community of Gay, Georgia—is five boys that I am now proud to call my sons,” she said, her words met with a collective “awwww” from the audience.

She continued: “Antoni, Bobby, Jonathan, Karamo and Tan are instruments of your love and grace to a hurting world. Allow them to see that their purpose is making this planet a better place for all. Amen.”

The Fab Five were visibly moved by the encounter.

“Thanks Good Morning America, I love a solid cry before I’ve eaten,” Porowski wrote in an Instagram story.

Van Ness posted a picture of him and Tammye on Instagram, with the caption: “Best surprise ever.”

After two seasons filmed in Georgia, the Fab Five relocated to Kansas City for Queer Eye season 3.

The new season introduced a number of first times—a dual makeover, one just ahead of a wedding, and one for the show’s first lesbian hero, Jess.

If Tammye found five sons in the Fab Five, Jess—whose parents shunned her after she came out to them—told PinkNews they had become her dads.

“I actually call all of them ‘dad,'” she said, adding: “I definitely consider them part of my family.”
