Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black take son for first swim
Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black have taken their son Robbie for his first swim.
In an adorable Instagram post yesterday, Daley shared a photo of himself and his son in the water and said: “Robbie went in the pool for the first time today! To be in the water with our son felt so special. He LOVED it!”
In another photo posted by Black on Twitter, Olympic diver Daley can be seen standing at the side of the pool holding Robbie before they got into the water.
“Robbie’s first time in the water with Papa!” Black said. “They both loved it. I watched. #takeyourkidtoworkday.”
Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black had their first child in June of last year
It’s been a busy month for Daley, who won two medals at the Diving World Series in Japan earlier this month. The event marked his return to international diving since he became a father last year.
Meanwhile, Black has recently returned to the UK from the United States where he was filming in support of the Equality Act with Sally Field.
The diver and his writer husband welcomed Robbie, their first child, into the world last June.

Posting on Instagram at the time, Daley shared a photo of his son’s feet and said: “Welcome to the world our precious little Robbie Ray Black-Daly.
“The most magical moment of my life,” he continued. “The amount of love and joy you have brought into our life is immeasurable. Our precious son.”
Meanwhile, Black said: “Thank you for bringing so much love and light with you. And thank you to those who helped make our dream of having a family into this wonderful reality.”
The couple’s son was born via a surrogate
The couple had Robbie via a surrogate and have been outspoken about the barriers that face LGBT+ people in becoming parents in the UK.
Speaking about the process on BBC Radio 5 Live last August, Black said there were some “big misconceptions” about what surrogacy is like.
“I’ve never heard of someone who does not know their surrogate, and doesn’t know them well. A part of the process is either choosing someone you know and love and have that relationship with… or you have to build a relationship like that.
“The women who are willing to do this and give this gift to couples who can’t have children – there is a love and a warmth and a generosity and a kindness that’s difficult not to fall in love with.
“We certainly have that with ours. We do love her very much.
“I don’t want to give too many details because she has asked not to be named publicly. We need to respect that, and I hope the press will respect that – but they become family.”
