RuPaul is getting his own daytime talk show

RuPaul Charles is getting his own daytime TV talk show.
The drag icon has signed up for a test run of daytime talk format titled RuPaul.
It will be RuPaul’s return to the talk show format, more than 20 years after the end of his 1990s VH1 series The RuPaul Show.
Of course, RuPaul is no stranger to parodying talk show formats on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and has plenty of recent practice interviewing celebrity guests on podcast What’s The Tee?

He will draw on all his experience for the trial run of talk show RuPaul, which will run for three weeks from June 10.
According to a release on Tuesday (April 2), the show will initially air on Fox stations in certain markets, including WNYW in New York and KTTV in Los Angeles.
RuPaul: I want to facilitate conversation
RuPaul said: “Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history.
“Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”
Frank Cicha of Fox added: “Part of the appeal of doing limited series is the freedom it allows to try something really different. That’s this show.”
According to Deadline, the show has brought in big names behind-the-scenes, including former Oprah Winfrey producer Jill Van Lokeren.
Talk show RuPaul will be ‘modern take’ on talk show format
The release adds: “Entertaining and heartfelt in everything he does, the show will feature Charles’ modern take on the talk format
“[RuPaul] will showcase his aspirational message with celebrity and newsmaker interviews, along with empowering everyday people to become their best selves.
“His sense of beauty, make-up and style will make the runway work for everyone.
“Charles’ 20-plus years interviewing and coaching along with his own evolution in music, fashion, style and media will inspire audiences daily.”
The show will add to RuPaul’s many TV commitments, which include annual seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race plus spin-off shows RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars
and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
RuPaul also somehow found the time to co-create an upcoming Netflix comedy series, AJ and the Queen.
