Silky Nutmeg Ganache called out for ‘insensitive’ Asian jokes on Drag Race
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Silky Nutmeg Ganache has been called out over comments to Asian-American competitor Plastique Tiara.
During Thursday’s (April 25) episode “L.A.D.P.,” the Season 11 queens took part in the traditional reading mini-challenge.
However, one of the insults led to a spat that drew in several Drag Race stars.
Silky Nutmeg Ganache roasted for Asian joke
Addressing Vietnamese-American queen Plastique Tiara, competitor Silky Nutmeg Ganache said: “Miss Plastique Tiara, I’m truly surprised that you’re still here boo boo, but I think for us all, your elimination needs to come hayaku, hayaku!”
A confused Plastique Tiara responded, “What the f**k does that mean?” before Silky replied: “It’s hurry in Japanese b**ch, hurry and go home!”

As the other queens laughed, Plastique Tiara replied: “I’m not Japanese!”
After the clip was shared on Twitter by fans who accused Ganache of “racism against Asians,” several Asian-American Drag Race stars spoke out.
Drag Race stars Soju and Jiggly Caliente speak out
Season 11 queen Soju, who is Korean-American, tweeted: “I’m Korean and plastique is Vietnamese… This isn’t about dragging @GanacheSilky this is about educating. All of us can learn.”
Silky Nutmeg Ganache responded to Soju: “I know your heritage. But what puzzles me is that reads that rhymes which I did to every girl has become I’m racist. Okay. Y’all can play into that if you want.
“If [Plastique] felt some type of way, she could have said something then or now. She laughed and carried on. What you won’t do is use me for likes and views. Stop creating a whole new narrative.”
Filipino-American Season 4 queen Jiggly Caliente weighed in: “It was a bit racially insensitive. Which I think bothers alot of the Asian community because its a joke old as time that has never been fixed or addressed.”
She added: “I love silky. She prolly just didnt know the joke was insensitive. Others might not take it that way.”
Silky Nutmeg Ganache: I would welcome a real conversation
Silky Nutmeg Ganache tweeted: “I would welcome a real conversation. Both of those girls have my number but they took this to social media so I could get drug more. That’s partially why I’m so blah with it.
“Being an educated black man, everything that I say is under a microscope to be dissected to prove that I’m not educated. Part of all of this is my fault because I was just raw having a good time. I cut up like I would in a dressing room.”
Plastique Tiara did not weigh in on the Twitter discussion, but later wrote: “Nobody deserves to be hated. We can all take this as a learning experience and grow.”
Silky Nutmeg Ganache previously came under fire for making an apparent bomb joke about the show’s first ever Muslim drag queen, Mercedes Iman Diamond.
At a press event, she said: “Behind the scenes, making the promo shoot, I said this is going to be the shadiest season, the fakest season. Then Mercedes walked up and I said, ‘This season’s going to blow up!'”
