Man jailed for attempting to cut throat of Grindr hook-up.
A man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for attempting to slit the throat of a man he met on gay dating app Grindr.
19 year old Chad Gurney arranged to meet his victim in a park near Alyestone Leisure Centre, in Leicester, UK, last year after agreeing to meet up on the gay dating app.
When the pair met they headed to a secluded woodland area to engage in sexual activities.
Afterwards, Gurney attempted to stab the victim with a pair of scissors, inflicting minor injuries, before the man was able to escape.

Gurney handed himself in to police on the night of the incident. He reportedly told an officer at Euston Street Police station in Leicester: “I stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors; I meant to kill him, it’s intentional.”
During the trial, prosecutor Nicola Moore told the court: “The complainant described the atmosphere as a little frosty as they walked back to his car. Without warning, he felt something jab into his neck and he put his hand up, but there was no blood.”
“The defendant was holding a pair of scissors and said he was sorry, but not before trying to do it again,” Moore told the court.
Grindr user Chad Gurney had previous thoughts of ‘killing another person’
Moore told the court that Gurney had had thoughts of killing another person on a number of occasions previously.
In a diary entry in August 2017, Gurney reportedly wrote: “Every day I have thoughts of killing someone. It doesn’t matter who.”
Back in February, a jury heard that he listed eight ways he planned to attack his victim including one where he slit the man’s throat with a pair of scissors.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “When being interviewed by officers Gurney also admitted he had twice made plans to kill somebody. On one occasion he followed someone over a bridge and was going to attack him from behind but was unable to go through with it.
“The second time he planned to lure someone to a disused building, but the person never showed up to the location. In Gurney’s diary he also talked about having already murdered someone but when questioned told officers this was a lie.
“Officers have conducted preliminary searches in relation to this which have proven negative.”
Gurney was jailed for 13 years on April 29.
Mary Prior, defending, said her client suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and “throughout his young life there has been gnawing conflict.”
“Some part of him wishes to offend and some part doesn’t. He is, of course, a danger to society and also a danger to himself,” said Prior.
