“GLSEN makes schools safe for every student no matter your sexual orientation or gender identity.ā€

Roberts is a long-time supporter of GLSEN, which works to support LGBT+ inclusion in schools.

In 2017, she backed a Missouri student’s fight to protect LGBT youth, as the Trump administration rescinded trans-inclusive guidance.

Paying tribute to 16-year-old GLSEN student ambassador Miguel Johnson, she said: “Miguel, like all the students I meet there, is smart, kind and incredibly brace to live their life openly and honestly as such a young age.

ā€œAs a parent, I want all students to feel safe and protected at school, and I stand with Miguel and trans students across the country. You are loved.”

Julia Roberts has called out Donald Trump on LGBT+ rights

The actor also called out President Trump for contradicting himself on LGBT+ issues.

She said: ā€œBefore Trump got elected, he always said he was totally for LGBTQ students, because theyā€™re people too and they deserve an education.

ā€œAnd then after he got elected, he was basically like, ā€˜Just kidding, I lied.ā€™

“We need to be progressive. People donā€™t realize that these things affect people they know and care about. So Iā€™m hoping that the more people come out and speak up, the more people will start realize this affects them too.”
