Anti-trans bathroom sign removed from Dundee train station

An anti-trans sticker designed to look like official signage has been removed from a Dundee train station bathroom after complaints.
The sticker, produced by the group Standing For Women, read: “Women only. This is a single sex service under the Equality Act 2010.”
It was taken down by staff after being brought to their attention by passenger Jennifer Norris.
“It was placed on the door in a very deliberate way so as to make it look official,” Norris told Dundee’s The Evening Telegraph.
“It’s hard to believe people would go out of their way, and spend money, to police other people’s gender identity.”

ScotRail said that it is “committed to making the railway open and accessible for all.”
“The vast majority of the toilet facilities we provide are unisex,” a spokesperson told the Evening Telegraph.
“The sticker is not official ScotRail signage and is being removed.”
Standing for Women oppose transgender rights
Standing for Women’s founder Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, who also goes by the name Posie Parker, told PinkNews that while the group produced the sticker it was not responsible for placing it in the station.
She added: “We are fed up that the protected category of sex in the Equality Act is routinely ignored and are standing up and saying we matter too.”
Under the Equality Act, service providers may create “single sex” spaces.
The legislation states that transgender people should not be discriminated against due to their gender identity, and should be allowed to use single sex spaces in alignment with their gender unless there is a legitimate safety concern.
Standing for Women opposes the government’s proposed reforms to the Gender Recognition Act 2004 which would allow transgender people to self-identify.
The group claims that there is a “practical danger” associated with the right to self-identify which will “erode our rights as the biological sex of women.”
It has previously installed anti-trans billboards in Birmingham and Liverpool showing the Google definition of a woman as an “adult human female.”
