André Aciman unveils cover of Call Me By Your Name’s sequel, Find Me

Author André Aciman has unveiled the cover of Call Me By Your Name‘s sequel, Find Me.
The author first revealed he was writing the sequel in December and revealed its title and release date—October 29, 2019—in March.
“Here’s the cover of my forthcoming novel, FIND ME, where you’ll rediscover Elio and Oliver. Coming October 2019,” the author wrote in a tweet on Friday (May 3).

Aciman explained that Find Me‘s cover, designed by Rodrigo Corral, offers clue as to whether the story will be set.
“The colors of the buildings couldn’t have been more intensely Roman or captured the sensual Rome I’ve known and loved so much: ochre, faded orange, and, in the background, a serene blue sky,” Aciman told Entertainment Weekly.

He added: “If you look carefully, the street sign reads ‘Via dei Banchi Vecchi’ — a street where Elio and his father order wine in what is my favorite enoteca in the world. My heart belongs in this image.”
The Italian capital is not the only location mentioned in Find Me. “An entire segment takes place in a rainy Paris by night while another is set in New York City late on a protracted Indian summer,” Aciman said.
What will happen in Find Me?
Plot details that have surfaced so far indicate that Find Me will focus both on Elio and Oliver, as well as Elio’s father, who has divorced from his wife.
The events in the book will be set two decades following the fateful summer described in Call Me By Your Name, which Aciman first published in 2007.
A decade later, director Luca Guadagnino turned into an award-winning film by the same name, starring Timotheé Chalamet as Elio, Arnie Hammer as Oliver and Michael Stuhlbarg as Elio’s father, Mr Perlman.
“Elio and Oliver have been with me ever since they visited my pages and they’ve never left,” Aciman told EW. “I fell in love with them, fell in love with their love, and have never stopped thinking of them. Better yet, I would never have learned so much or been so stirred by young love until I woke up one morning and started writing the word, ‘Later.’”
Will Call Me By Your Name‘s sequel Find Me be turned into a film?
It remains to be seen whether the Call Me By Your Name sequel will also be turned into a film, although Guadagnino and Chalamet have previously expressed support for the idea.
Less supportive was Hammer, who told Vulture in March he feared the sequel may end up disappointing the fans.
“I’m sort of coming around to the idea that the first one was so special for everyone who made it, and so many people who watched it felt like it really touched them, or spoke to them,” Hammer said.
“And it felt like a really perfect storm of so many things, that if we do make a second one, I think we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment.”
