Troye Sivan and Charli XCX to launch new LGBT festival
Troye Sivan has teased fans on Instagram with news of a new LGBT+ music festival curated by himself and Charli XCX.
Go West Fest will take place on June 6 in Los Angeles and will be “a new kind of pride festival,” according to Sivan’s Instagram post.
“Been working on this for months and I’m soooooo stoked to share this with you – introducing Go West Fest,” he wrote.
The openly gay artist promised that it will celebrate “the inclusivity, artistry, music, kinks, merchants, and creativity of the LGBTQ community, while really giving back to our community.”
Troye Sivan and Charli XCX released single ‘1999’ together last year
Joining Sivan and Charli XCX are Chika, Pussy Riot, Gia Gunn, Allie X, Carlie Hanson, DJ Alima Lee and many more. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (May 17), with proceeds going to GLAAD.
The festival is not the first time Sivan and Charli XCX have teamed up. Last year, they dropped a collaboration called “1999,” which came with a music video referencing iconic pop culture moments from that year.

Troye Sivan recently speculated that he might be more commercially successful if he wasn’t gay
Last January, he spoke about the need for a major queer pop star, and said that there is still no LGBT+ equivalent of Beyoncé, Rihanna or Taylor Swift.
“I think we’re in a really interesting time in music right now where we are seeing more and more queer artists pop up, but we don’t have a queer Taylor Swift, we don’t have a queer Rihanna, or a queer Beyoncé,” he said, speaking on an episode of Will Young and Chris Sweeney’s Homo Sapiens podcast, released on January 24.
Sivan also speculated as to whether he would do better commercially if he wasn’t gay.
“I have a great management team and great label, and I haven’t had this conversation with anyone else in fear because I hate it, hate it, hate it when pop stars sound bitter, or blame any sort of lack of success on anything other than for themselves,” he said.
