A late night hook-up left a gay man in hospital with an erection that may never go down.
Writer and singer-songwriter Danny Polaris, who lives in Berlin, has been hospitalised for ten days with a painful erection that won’t go away.
Speaking exclusively to PinkNews, he explained: “I was partying at a club, and I took a Viagra before I went.
“I met a nurse, who I went home with, who ended up injecting an erection enhancer into my cock. I thought, why not, what could possibly go wrong?
“It’s one of the worst decisions of my life.”
Rushed to hospital ‘screaming in agony’ after day-long erection
The next morning, Polaris noticed he still had an erection but put off seeking medical help, instead attending Berlin Pride “with my flatmate’s wine cooler wrapped around my penis and shoved down my shorts.”
But a day later, when the erection still had not gone down, Polaris was rushed to hospital in an ambulance “screaming in pain.”
At the hospital, he was diagnosed with a priapism, which is a long-lasting painful erection that can cause permanent damage to the penis.
Medical experts tried a number of excruciating treatments in order to try and reduce the swelling, driving needles through the side of his penis five times to try and remove blood.

Doctors also tried pushing a plastic nail down his urethra without anaesthetic, which Polaris says was “ten out of ten on the pain scale,” to no avail.
The desperate clinicians even resorted to emergency surgery, taking a vein from his leg to try and draw the blood away.
However, Polaris still has his erection after a week and a half, and remains in hospital, hooked up to a blood thinner.
‘I don’t know if I’ll ever have sex again’
He said: “I’ve still got a bit of an erection ten days later.
“Some days I wake up and I just cry about how stupid I was, about what I’ve lost, about what’s going to happen to me.
Friends of Polaris have set up a GoFundMe to help cover recovery and rehabilitation costs.
He added: “I don’t know how much it’s going to cost to get my penis working how it used to be working.
“Sex is very important to me. I’m a sex writer, I write erotica and edit erotica. I need all the help I can get.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future… will I have sex again?”

Polaris, who is in an open relationship, is worried that the issue could even impact his relationship with his boyfriend.
He continued: “This is a marathon, and it’s going to take me a long time to recover.
“My advice to anyone with a penis is be careful when you take Viagra and don’t let anyone come near your cock with an injection because it’s not worth it.”
