Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown ‘got threats’ for defending Dancing With The Stars co-star Sean Spicer

Queer Eye star Karamo Brown has said that his family received “threats” after he defended his Dancing with the Stars co-star Sean Spicer.
The Fab Five member came under fire after it was revealed that he would be taking part in the ABC reality show alongside Donald Trump’s former Press Secretary, who has an anti-LGBT record.
In August, Brown described Spicer as “a good guy, a really sweet guy,” before abruptly deleting his Twitter and taking a break from social media amid a wave of criticism.
Returning to Instagram on Saturday (September 7), the Queer Eye star explained why he opted to walk away from the row.
Karamo Brown says he has been in a ‘bad state of mind’
He said: “Some of you may know I deleted my other social media pages and took a long break from posting on ig because I been in a bad state of mind.
“My kids/family & I were being threatened by strangers… People who I thought supported & loved me turned their backs on me… saying I was a traitor, a horrible person, delusional and treating me really bad… but as I walk into my first dance rehearsal for @dancingabc No More Tears and No More Holding My Head Low!
“Im playing my favorite/pick me up song from @marenmorris … taking a deep breath and reminding myself #EverythingsGonnaBeOkay ❤️? #ImBack”

Sean Spicer also addressed the backlash in an interview with Us Weekly.
He said: “[Karamo] and I had a really fun talk — not about politics, just about getting to know each other and how excited we are about that opportunity.
“That’s kind of been his trademark. He has tried to foster a more positive dialogue and he did it again and it was really great, but I felt bad because he was trying to be a good person.
“He was obviously doing the right and good thing and he has the best intentions. We need more people like him as opposed to fewer. It was a shame that people were so nasty to him.”
Queer Eye star has surprising ties with the Trump White House
The Queer Eye star’s political views have previously come under the microscope, explaining in March: “I visited the Trump White House, and I met with Karen Pence’s chief of staff with [arts advocacy nonprofit] Creative Coalition.
“I’m actually excited to go back to the Trump White House, because even though I didn’t vote for them, I think it’s important for us to find a space where we can talk to those who are different from us.”
However, in April he was notably absent from a visit to Capitol Hill where his co-stars met with Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In a not-so-cryptic tweet at the time, he said: “The thing I love about the #Fab5 the most is that we all don’t hold the same view but we respect each other and the process.
“For me, its important to champion leaders who understand the importance of speaking the truth and who also understand that our democracy is a bipartisan system & in order to see sustainable change
“U must find a way to work w/ the other side while not disrespecting your own party.”
