Cyndi Lauper and Jane Lynch to star in ‘Golden Girls for today’

In some truly gay news, Cyndi Lauper and Jane Lynch will star in a show sold as a “Golden Girls for today.”
Seems the pair just wanna have fun as the 1980s pop icon and the comedian announced they have joined forced for a new comedy project for Netflix.
Lynch let it slip backstage at the Creative Arts Emmys last night, according to NBC News.
But the news might not be too surprising for followers of comedian Carol Leifer, known for her work on Seinfeld.
She posted on Facebook back in July: ” It’s official, heading out next with a new half-hour comedy, starring Jane Lynch and Cyndi Lauper.
“A writer’s dream to work with these two legends. Can’t wait to see where we land…”
According to Lynch, the project landed right into the laps of Netflix executives.
Jane Lynch let slip about the show.
“I pitched a show to Netflix and they bought it,” she told reporters after winning the Emmy for guest actress in a comedy for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
“I don’t know if I can even tell you, but it’s with Cyndi Lauper, so there! We’ll see.”
Reporters then tried to get Lynch to tease more details about the series. “We’re our age,” Lynch continued, “I’m almost 60 and she’s 65, and we’re looking for our next act, without ever having had husbands of children.
“And there will be two other people who haven’t been cast yet. But its kind of a ‘Golden Girls’ for today.”

A zinger-filled and oppressively sassy show, The Golden Girls aired for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992.
It featured four women of a certain age sharing a house in Miami that immediately became an ageless comedy.
While the show was warm, it dipped into daring comedic material, such as being gay and living with HIV at times, which gained it an endearing gay fanbase.
