Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey’s ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ video was spliced into a Mean Girls clip and a new gay icon was born.
Fifteen years(!) after its release, gay Twitter continues to find new meaning in the seminal camp classic Mean Girls.
Meme account Saint Hoax gifted us all by splicing the iconic scene, in which Damien and Janice introduce the Plastics to Cady, with clips from Ariana, Miley and Lana’s hugely-hyped music video.

Naturally, Ariana is Gretchen Weiners, whose hair (ponytail?) is so big “because it’s full of secrets”.
That leaves Miley as cousin-kisser Karen Smith, and Lana as Regina George, “evil [in a] human form.”
“She may seem like your typical selfish backstabbing slut-faced hoe-bag, but in reality she is so much more than that,” apparently.
The end of the mash-up features a surprise cameo from another gay icon, who, if we’re honest, might have made ‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ a hell of a lot better.

‘Don’t Call Me Angel’ on track for number one.
Ariana, Miley and Lana’s single, taken from the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, broke the Spotify record for biggest single day steams for an all-female collaboration upon its release and is well on its way to topping the UK charts, according to the official first look top 20.
If it makes number one, it will become Ariana’s sixth, Miley’s third and Lana’s first.
Despite its huge streaming numbers, reaction to the track has been lukewarm.
Pitchfork said that the trio “meet at a lower creative common denominator than they’ve enjoyed lately”, comparing it negatively to Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink and Lil Kim’s ‘Lady Marmalade’ and Destiny’s Child’s ‘Independent Women, Part 1’.
