Drag Race star Valentina calls out fans for cruel body shaming comments: ‘It really f***ing hurts’

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Valentina hit back at fans who criticised her for looking “too masculine” at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
Valentina wowed on the Emmys red carpet in a plunging semi-transparent gown with strategically-placed embroidery.
But when an Instagram fan account shared pictures of her look, fans deemed it “very manly” and left comments such as “I wish she would pad”.

Valentina, who identifies as non-binary and uses she/her pronouns, said that she was “living such an Emmys fantasy”, but had been brought to tears by the negative reaction.
“How dare you all be this mean,” she wrote underneath the post.
“I’ve read comments on my body and masculinity tonight that have really hurt me. Calling me a man. Telling me my hips don’t match my shoulders. It really f***ing hurts.”
“I was living such an Emmys fantasy but these comments made me want to hide in a hole for something I can’t fix. I’m f***ing human!”
Many fans swiftly jumper to her defence.
“You have absolutely no right to be this rude to a human,” wrote one.
“Not a ‘drag queen’, not a ‘celebrity’, Valentina is a f***ing human.”
Another wrote: “How y’all can be as ‘accepting’ but only accept a [non-binary] person if they have hips and ass.”
Valentina ‘feels like her own gender’.
Valentina first opened up about her gender identity in January 2019.
“I identify as non-binary,” she told Out. “I don’t completely feel like a man, I don’t completely feel like a woman. I feel like a goddess. I feel like I’m my own gender.”
She is one of several Drag Race alumni who have come out as gender non-conforming.
Her season nine cast mate Aja is non-binary, as is season five winner Jinx Monsoon, and British queen Divina De Campo, who will appear on the upcoming first season of Drag Race UK.
Season six star Courtney Act has previously said she identifies as genderqueer.
